With an experience with over 18 years in specialty coffee, in 2009 our traders got the opportunity to start buying their green coffee direct from the farmers. After talking with many roasters, they discovered the need for exclusive and unique coffees, coffees with a story.
The team is made out of three Q graders: Tom, whose experience is 100% in roasting and green coffee, he spends his time mostly traveling the globe to buy coffee. Katrien’s forte is in the sensory area. Being a Q grader as well, she has trained baristas, set up coffee shops, and written coffee books. She is also a World Brewers and World Barista Cup Certified judge. And Laura who once upon a time was a rookie barista, but she has since competed in the World Brewers Cup, and has become a Q grader and a mentor to a bunch of green baristas. Today her main task is the quality and operations control.
Having three Q graders in their team is not a luxury, but a way to set the bar and guarantee quality to their customers, because one of the basics things in coffee is trust!
Most of their coffees come from small producers committed to preserving indigenous coffee varieties and experimenting with different processing. They are working in harmony with nature and with respect for coffee. Some are organic, some won prices and some were processed exclusively for our traders. All our coffees are available in limited batches, bought directly at the origin.
